My experience with wine is very little. I grew up with parents who do not often drink wine. My dad’s drink of choice is a craft beer. My mother grew up in a family of alcoholics and rarely drinks because of it. As a child I never drank and occasionally would taste wine at a special get together like a holiday dinner. I disgust the taste of beer and would prefer to drink a nice glass of wine. From the times i’ve tasted and or drank a glass I preferred the taste of white over red. I have a big sweet tooth so to me it makes sense I like wine over other drinks.
I mainly chose this class to learn more about the culture of wine and pairing it with food. My family type of food is Italian. I was fortunate enough to visit Italy my senior year of high school and got to overlook the beautiful region of tuscany. I have always been intrigued by movies that have vineyards in them, marveling at their beauty.I would like to visit one when I’m older, even maybe work on a vineyard at some point. I’m not strong at languages but I do have a passion to learn about cultures. As explained by you in your intro to wine video, wine is in itself a culture. As a student majoring in Human Development with a minor in sociology. I never get bored learning about people.
In my free time I love to bake and cook and I am excited to enhance my knowledge of cuisine with the combination of wine. I would like to share my knowledge with others instead of settling for cheap and unsatisfying wine.
